Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$59.910 - $77.303 - $94.697

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of ambulatory services, which are multi-site, and multi-functional in areas across the SharpCare division. This position is subject to functional policies and goals and has discretion to establish plans and recommend policies and priorities, provided activities are consistent with integration objectives, operating policies and precedents. Directs the operations, planning and implementation of SharpCare operations in collaboration with SharpCare Medical Group and Sharp HealthCare across the different SharpCare divisions. Represents SharpCare in all Sharp operations, contracts, and finance meetings to ensure medical group integration with Sharp standards of performance. Accountable for implementation of SharpCare provider education related to documentation standards and coding compliance according to SHC System Compliance policy and as directed by SharpCare Board of Directors. Provides for SharpCare system integration in functional areas as a member of various SharpCare and SHC committees and task forces. Develops and manages budgets for functional areas and monitors for controllable expenses. Administratively leads SharpCare Board meetings and various other meetings involving physicians and other providers of SharpCare.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years medical office management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Health Services Administration, Public Health or Business Administration.

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related area OR three additional years' related experience above and beyond the required Work Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree - REQUIRED.

Essential Functions

  • __Clinic Operations__

    • Directs the implementation of the annual SharpCare strategic plan.
    • Determines direction, goals, and objectives of assigned areas and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans.
    • Directs the development of short and long-range plans and budgets.
    • Develops and recommends overall organizational policies and objectives within functional area, and ensures their implementation.
    • Integrates all aspects of operations of the designated service areas.
  • __Contract Relationships__

    • Manages contract services, and/or outside relationships relating to daily operations.
    • Ensures organizational compliance with legislation and regulations as they impact assigned areas.
    • Interacts with health plan payers to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and maximum realization of revenue opportunities in agreements.
    • Responsible for overall operations management inclusive of responsibilities in cost management, quality of services delivered, employee and resource management and total care delivery.
  • __Physician Relationships__

    • Works with key physicians to drive quality and service outcomes as well as operational efficiency.
    • Lead administrator in SharpCare Medical Group board meetings and works in collaboration with SharpCare President in organizing meeting agenda, leading the meeting, and presenting operational, financial, and compliance reports at the board meeting.
    • Actively partners with SharpCare Medical Group leadership on recruitment and onboarding of physicians and advanced practice clinicians.
    • Collaborates with SharpCare Medical Group on discussions with providers on accountable standards of practice alignment with expected Sharp HealthCare behavior standards and policies and procedures.
    • Partners with Sharp HealthCare leadership on developing pathways for implementation and improvement in provider workflow to attain efficiencies in operations to enhance patient experience.
  • __Financial Revenue and Oversight__

    • Directs SharpCare operations to promote efficiency, compliance, and revenue enhancement.
    • Collaborates with SHC management to identify, resolve and communicate operational issues with SharpCare business services.
    • Develops budgets and monitors cost Centers for controllable expenses.
    • Works with VP of PFS CCD to ensure billings are submitted timely and accurately and aids patients, and physicians with complaints related to SharpCare billings.
    • Develops and manages policies and procedures for payment handling such as payment reconciliation and clinic deposit reconciliation.
    Business Operations
    • Directs planning and activities of SharpCare business operations to enhance revenue and promote business plan objectives.
    • Represents SharpCare at system level meetings regarding electronic health record system and Business Service operational meetings.
    • Ensures SharpCare clinics are maximizing electronic systems for patient throughput and convenience with efficient clinic staffing.
    • Ensures SharpCare operations.
  • __System Integration and Compliance__

    • Promotes teamwork and cooperation between supervisors and staff across departments throughout the Sharp HealthCare system.
    • Collaborates with sharp entities to promote appropriate integration of services with the goal of improving system wide efficiencies.
    • Works in unison with SHC VP Compliance Integrity Services to oversee coding and documentation compliance of SharpCare Medical Group.
    • Oversees physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants in regard to coding and compliance education related to payer and CMS regulations.
  • __Leadership and Planning__

    • Responsible for developing annual strategic plan and goals for SharpCare in alignment with Sharp HealthCare objectives and SharpCare Medical Group.
    • Manages diverse group of multi-level and multi-site employees.
    • In collaboration with SharpCare Medical Group, ensures appropriate staffing of providers for effective and efficient clinic operations.
    • Represents SharpCare Medical Group and Clinic operations to Sharp HealthCare Executives and external parties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Seasoned professional skills and knowledge in areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge and experience in current matters relating to healthcare business management: regulatory compliance, fee-for service payer, managed care environment and various reimbursement models, quality management; continuous quality improvement, performance management, and policy and procedure development.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Physicians and other professional employees as a team member, in committees and other operational activities.
  • Interpret data and incorporate/apply to functional areas.
  • Exemplify The Sharp Experience.
  • Ability to present a professional image to community groups and public.
  • Understanding of California and Federal Regulations related to billing, coding, documentation, HIPAA, Stark, Occupational Medicine and others as needed.
  • Understands and applies knowledge of the managed care environment and structure of the market area and its implications to the operations and administration of the multi-specialty medical group model and integrated system.
