Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the level three Program Security Officer (PSO) position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

The primary responsibility for the PSO position is managing personnel security requirements for our Department of Defense Customer. With a focus on compliance, the incumbent will diligently fulfill Security Coordinator duties and undergo specialized training. Responsibilities include conducting Defense Information System for Security (DISS) verifications, processing access requests, and overseeing background reviews. The role extends to managing security processes, including in/out processing tasks for contractors, Civil Service, and Military personnel. Additionally, the incumbent will administer security badge issuance and operate the door proximity access system. To ensure adherence to Air Force regulations, the position involves drafting and submitting security SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for approval.

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • 10+ years of demonstrated practical expertise and relevant DoD work experience in contracts and subcontracts, highlighting hands-on involvement
  • Recognized industry leader esteemed for strong analytical prowess.
  • Exceptional organizational and presentation abilities, facilitating effective communication
  • Proficient in working autonomously, interfacing seamlessly with team members and senior leadership, demonstrating adaptability and self-reliance
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving acumen, proactively addressing issues to prevent potential complications
  • Exhibits outstanding written and oral communication skills, displaying leadership capabilities and adeptness in fostering collaborative teamwork
  • Proficient in Physical Security and Risk Management/Safeguarding of Classified Information, ensuring comprehensive protection against security vulnerabilities throughout development and delivery processes
  • Assists in preparing accreditation packages, including essential physical security documents, for approval by relevant agencies
  • Provides support and guidance in physical, information, personnel, and industrial security domains, ensuring adherence to proven guidelines and procedures
  • Well-versed in the classification management program, offering assistance to program managers in developing classified guidance and decisions
  • Adheres to and proposes modifications to Security Operating Procedures to optimize protection in a dynamic threat environment
  • Helps in implementing and administering the Resource Protection Program, encompassing various security access systems and protocols
  • Supports managers in setting up policies, instructions, and procedures for safeguarding classified information, ensuring compliance and security
  • Provides support for Top Secret VTCs and Top-Secret Control Account Custodians, ensuring proper control and security of classified materials
  • Monitors controlled areas for compliance with physical security requirements, including automated data processing and secure communications equipment

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, relevant work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree, like Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Crediting Combinations of Education and Experience standard
  • Key Skills/Experience Required for Interview Selection ONLY
  • Protects against security vulnerabilities that will exist during the development processes as well as those that will require preventive measures upon completion or delivery of systems and products.
  • Assist with preparing accreditation packages to include fixed facility checklists, facility and alarm diagrams, inspectable space determinations, and other essential physical security documents for approval by approval agencies.
  • Follows guidance and assist supervisors and managers in the areas of physical, information, personnel and industrial security.
  • Familiar with the classification management program, and supports program managers in developing classified guidance and decisions. Provides guidance on classification marking, accountability, control, storage, safeguarding, downgrading, declassifying, and destruction procedures for classified materials.
  • Recent experience working in a classified environment with classified programs

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
