Job Summary:

The Professional Land Surveyor leads projects, office production, field surveying, and related management and project management duties. This position supervises the field and office survey staff, performs field quality control, oversees final mapping in an AutoCAD and MicroStation environment. They conduct survey research, perform computations, develop written descriptions of land for deeds, leases, and other documents per local, state, federal, and project requirements.


Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining sketches, maps, and reports of legal descriptions of surveys.
  • Researching legal documents, survey records, and land titles to clarify information about property boundaries.
  • Record of Survey maps, lot line adjustments, ALTA-NSPS Land Title survey, and legal descriptions to attest to their technical correctness
  • Operate Trimble survey equipment
  • Interpret, evaluate and prepare legal descriptions of real property
  • Perform AutoCAD/Civil3D drafting to include; setting up sheet, importing points, line work/drafting
  • Creating and updating signs and stamps subdivision maps
  • Record of Survey drafting boundary line resolution subdivision plat preparation
  • Operate a computer and peripheral equipment to compile survey notes and create drawings as required
  • Solid background in survey field procedures
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in the laws and regulations pertaining to land surveying in Idaho
  • Knowledge of all phases of land surveying and map preparation including land surveying techniques principles of boundary control and construction surveying
  • GPS experience
  • Experience resolving boundary lines and creating Records of Survey
  • Ability to read blueprints, plats, maps, site plans, deeds, legal documents, and field notes
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Robotic and GPS equipment
  • Be capable of traveling and working outdoors in different weather conditions
  • Possesses technical aptitude and the ability to think independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience:

  • Idaho and/or Oregon Professional Land Surveyors License or be able to attain within 1 year of joining Keller Associates
  • Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures/note taking and maintaining office and field project material.
  • Proficient with IDOT Standards/ Code lists and survey requirements.
  • Experience with GPS, Data collectors
  • AutoCAD experience (Civil3D preferred)
  • Various land surveying technical skills to include; ALTA-NSPS Land Title surveys, platting, land development, ROW surveys, preliminary design surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, deed research, survey map research, and good organizational skills
