About the Job:

The Food Services Supervisor coordinates and supervises Food & Nutrition Service activities throughout the department and any affected areas. The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. The Food Services Supervisor must also maintain relationships with other departments ensuring timely interaction, i.e., interaction with maintenance regarding preventive, emergency and routine maintenance including follows up with Facilities Management department via work requisition.

What You’ll Do:

  • Under the general supervision of the Production Manager and within specified guidelines and standard procedures, continually inspect and observe all areas of the Food & Nutrition Services.
  • Supervise hot and cold production of foods i.e. Deli Special, Grill Specials, and Pizza Station in the cafeteria or all areas of patient feeding regarding stock for all areas.
  • Supervise department operations including service, appearance, temperature and variety of food in the absence of the Production Manager.
  • Tour facility multiple times daily to ensure high quality facility appearance while interacting with staff.
  • Responsible for meeting Manchester Board of Health, State and JCAHO standards.
  • Ensure consistent management of staff including, hiring, disciplining, performance appraisal, training, team building and other interventions as necessary.
  • Allocate work to employees in the department and continually inspects their accomplishments to ensure conformance standards of cleanliness
  • Schedule daily work assignments, answers time off requests, audits and check staff timecards weekly.
  • Ensure that all assignments are carried out according to a timely and frequent schedule.
  • Schedule and conduct staff meetings on a daily basis, types and circulate meeting minutes to management team, and maintain record of meetings.
  • Conduct staff orientations, in-services, and maintain staff files.
  • Verify the supervisor's checklist from the prior shifts and record any variances.
  • Report monthly productivity study to Production Manager.
  • Monitor department equipment effectiveness daily.
  • Prepare maintenance sanitation list.
  • Maintain temperature logs throughout the department.
  • Report weekly maintenance list.
  • Attend management meetings.

  • Has the ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring an extensive knowledge of a particular field and the use of a wide range of procedures.
  • Can endure periods of heavy workload and stress.
  • Can be flexible.
  • Is knowledgeable of cooking methods and procedures including cooking, baking, salad preparation, etc. and the procurement and storage of food stuffs.
  • Is knowledgeable of health and safety standards as they relate to food service.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Experience in large institution with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: Serve Safe Certified preferred.
  • Software/Hardware: Microsoft Office

Work Shift:

40 hours, variable schedule between the hours of 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM, to include every other weekend rotation
