Job Title: Registered Nurse CVOR

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). As a CVOR Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons during various cardiovascular procedures, ensuring patient safety, and providing exceptional patient care throughout the perioperative period. Your expertise and compassion will play a vital role in ensuring positive surgical outcomes and a remarkable patient experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to plan and execute cardiovascular surgeries.

2. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and properly sterilized.

3. Provide pre-operative assessment and care to patients, including reviewing medical histories, conducting physical assessments, and obtaining relevant diagnostic tests.

4. Administer medications and anesthesia as per the surgeon's instructions and document accurately.

5. Assist the surgeon during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures in a sterile manner.

6. Monitor patient vital signs, blood oxygen levels, and anesthesia administration during surgery.

7. Evaluate patients' post-operative conditions and implement appropriate interventions to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery.

8. Provide thorough and accurate hand-off reports to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurses.

9. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and update individualized care plans.

10. Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and provide necessary discharge instructions.

11. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols at all times.

12. Continuously educate oneself regarding the latest advancements and best practices in CVOR nursing.

13. Maintain accurate and complete patient records and prepare reports as required.

14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure patient safety is a top priority.

15. Foster a compassionate and empathetic environment for patients and their families.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the United States.

2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent; Master's degree is a plus.

3. Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) is highly preferred.

4. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a CVOR setting.

5. Sound knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and instruments.

6. Proficient in monitoring and interpreting patient vital signs and anesthesia administration.

7. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

9. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

10. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

11. Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and schedules.

12. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

13. CPR and ACLS certification.

14. Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

15. Strong commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
