Job Summary

Provisions, installs, configures, operates, and maintains networking systems security programs and processes that support and enforce the District Security Policies and Procedures. This position participates in systems security design and implementation, responds to security incidents, and utilizes mobile device management tools to secure all district devices.

The salary range is $60,209 - 86,470 (12 months/260 days)

This position may allow for a hybrid remote work schedule (work from home for a portion of the workweek) within the state of Wisconsin.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of experience in systems or network administration, software engineering, and enterprise security management performing duties related to this position.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as GSEC desired.
  • Ability to write technical specifications, operational and end user documentation.
  • Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, Endpoint protection, Forensics, Firewalls, Vulnerability, Scanners, Penetration Testing, etc.).
  • Familiarity with mobile device management tools such as SCCM, Intune, Google Workspace, JAMF, Mosyle, or similar.
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support planned and unplanned outages and upgrades.
  • Strong analytical abilities and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of vendors and staff.
  • Must be able to meet multiple deadlines set with varying deadlines.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Cloud, SaaS and ASP vendors and our Directory Services including ADFS to provide SSO and other similar integrations for our staff and students.
  • Assists with security functions of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure, including, but not exclusive to the following systems: physical and virtual Windows servers, WMware, and Linux based servers, Cisco network switches and routers, Active Directory including group policy, Palo Alto firewalls, content filtering, and cloud systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Utilizes mobile device management tools such as SCCM, Intune, Google Workspace, JAMF, and
  • Mosyle to automate, control, and secure administrative policies on laptops, smartphones, tablets, or any other device connected to the district’s network.
  • Assists internal and external customers to provide implementation, configuration, troubleshooting and ongoing support for both new and existing systems and software applications.
  • Reviews and enforces systems access under the principle of least privilege (PoLP).
  • Identifies and assists with implementation of vendor-issued security patches for network, server and software applications.
  • Provides systems engineering and administrative support for enterprise systems and services.
  • Initiates and coordinates the escalation of computer system/application problems to support staff, other staff in the district or third-party vendors.
  • Performs both routine and non-routine system administrative tasks for daily operations of complex systems.
  • Effectively develops, designs, implements and integrates new technologies with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinates with different functional areas if required.
  • Provides security engineering and administrative support for enterprise security technologies and services.
  • Develops, designs, and implements new security technologies with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the current cyber threat landscape, cyber security product categories and their application, and available and emerging technologies.
  • Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and responds to all security-related incidents.
  • Attends meetings to provide technical expertise and project updates.
  • Creates, verifies, and maintains documentation of assigned information systems.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining the district’s Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Participates in systems on-call rotation.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
