Responsibilities

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Educational Foundations and Leadership (EDFL) Department within the College of Education and Human Development. EDFL primarily offers graduate courses leading one to earn either a master’s or doctoral degree and offers two (2) foundational education courses being offered to pre-service educators at the undergraduate level.

The M.Ed. program has a strong reputation among local and regional school districts and is recognized for preparing effective and knowledgeable educational leaders. Screening of credentials will begin March 25, 2024, and will continue to review applicants until the position is filled. The start date for this 9-month position (potential for summer employment as well) will be August, 2024.

UL Lafayette is a state-supported institution of higher education with a very high research activity, offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. The institution is the largest of nine universities in the University of Louisiana system with an enrollment of approximately 19,000 students. Located in Lafayette, Louisiana, which is approximately 1 hour from the state capital of Baton Rouge and 2 hours from New Orleans, the city is a growing and thriving community.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Teach an undergraduate course relating to assessment at the K-12 level.
• Teach master’s level hybrid courses (50% face-to-face and 50% online) at both on-campus and remote locations to M.Ed. students pursuing certification as a building-level administrator.
• Serve as chair and/or as a committee member for the M.Ed. Standards Defense (a culminating assessment all candidates must pass before graduating).
• Participate in and actively produce scholarly activity/research; and provide departmental, college, university, and professional service.
  
  

Rank And Salary

Tenure-track Assistant Professor.

Salary range is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Earned terminal degree in K-12 Educational Leadership, or closely related field is required.
• Past work experience as a K-12 building and/or district level administrator is required.
• A successful interview and teaching/research demonstration is required.
• Scholarly activities and/or published research highlighting a developing research agenda is required.
• Experience in teaching graduate students in K-12 administration is preferred.
• Experience in or potential for pursuing external research funding is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with public school systems and educational agencies is preferred.
