Ambulatory Procedure Visit (APV) Medical Coder (Coder II) - Remote | WFH - #1692058

This job opportunity is for an Ambulatory Procedure Visit (APV) Medical Coder (Coder II). As part of the team, you'll be responsible for accurately assigning Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes, ICD diagnoses, CPT and HCPCS codes, modifiers, and quantities based on medical record documentation for ambulatory procedure visits.

Responsibilities

Utilize excellent computer and communication skills for interactions with providers and staff.

Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, medical terminology, coding guidelines (outpatient and ambulatory surgery), documentation requirements, medication familiarity, reimbursement guidelines, and encoder experience.

Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Requirements

Education/Certification:

Preferred certifications include RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-P, with a minimum of four years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in multiple specialties within the past decade. Alternatively, two years of experience in an MTF setting is acceptable.

A minimum of one year of performance in the specialty is required to be qualifying.

Continued Education Requirements

Possess an Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, a healthcare-related major, or biological science, or meet alternative educational criteria outlined in the job description.

Experience

Minimum of four years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in multiple specialties within the past ten years, or a minimum of two years of experience if in an MTF setting.

Unique Military Health Care Systems/Procedures

Familiarity with MHS GENESIS, DEERS, military filing systems, and coding compliance systems.
