Job Summary

The Logistics Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's logistics management, ensuring the efficient control, delivery, and distribution of products and materials. This role involves leading the execution of comprehensive strategies, metrics, and processes to optimize the logistics network and operations. The Logistics Director will establish governance and quality auditing processes to monitor vendor performance, drive continuous improvement, and create functional strategies. They will develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the infrastructure, identify operational issues, and achieve high performance at optimal costs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop department short- and long-term goals, creating a strategic plan to achieve those goals.
  • Analyze data collected over time and implement process improvements.
  • Lead client engagement and design solutions for new logistics programs to ensure alignment with client needs and expectations.
  • Continuously optimize operations to reduce costs and enhance the customer experience.
  • Negotiate pricing, scheduling, and contracts with vendors, suppliers, and carriers to ensure favorable terms and mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Conduct meetings with external stakeholders and partners to ensure clear processes and deliverables for client programs.
  • Evaluate, coordinate, manage, and streamline all logistics processes, identifying potential cost savings.
  • Review and analyze budgets, expenditures, and operations to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Determine needs for the expansion of routes and schedules.
  • Quickly respond to escalations with viable solutions to resolve issues arising from adverse circumstances and rapidly changing situations.
  • Conduct in-person site audits and inventory counts with logistics partners as needed.
  • Keep track of staff activities, provide instruction and motivate team members
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, economics, business administration, project management, or a related field
  • 8-10+ years of experience in an industry-related field
  • Experience managing teams of full-time employees
  • Experience in analyzing metrics and data-driven decision making
  • Proven ability to design and execute a supply chain strategy
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver on KPIs
  • Technical and applied understanding of logistics software and warehouse management systems
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Multitasking capabilities

Physical Requirements

  • May include climbing stairs or ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, standing and lifting
  • May include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds if necessary
