Penmac Staffing is recruiting an experienced bookkeeper/accountant to work for a local CPA firm.
Overall Summary
The company is seeking a bookkeeper to manage the accounting for several larger clients, specifically those in the restaurant and construction industries. Responsibilities include bill payments, weekly bank reconciliations, journal entries, recording depreciation, and payroll journal entries, with an emphasis on maintaining clean and accurate financial records. While payroll processing does not need to be at an advanced level, a strong degree of accuracy is essential. This role will work under a senior accountant, who will review the work, but the bookkeeper must be capable of handling day-to-day tasks independently.
Qualifications
2 or more years of experience in accounting preferred
No accounting degree required
Must be extremely detail oriented and accurate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
QuickBooks And QuickBooks Online Experience Preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced office with little supervision
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Job Duties
Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Accounting and Financial Statements
Preparation of depreciation schedules
Reconciliation of banks and other accounts
Payroll processing, Payroll tax, and Payroll report preparation
Sales tax and Use tax reports
Building and maintaining excellent client relationships and communication
Schedule
The position offers 20-30 hours of work per week initially, with the potential to increase to 40 hours by the end of the summer. If an exceptional candidate requires a full-time 40-hour workweek, additional work can be allocated. Conversely, if a strong candidate prefers only 20 hours per week, accommodations can be made. Work hours must fall between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Pay: $18-25 DOE with more experience preferred
