Entry Level Purchasing Position In Office
Starting $19-$24/Hr DOE
Position Summary
As our Purchasing Specialist I, you’ll be assisting with purchasing, forecasting, and auditing records of all inventory transactions.You’ll monitor stock levels, and track purchase orders to ensure that at all warehouses, companywide, have sufficient stock as it relates to construction. You'll also have opportunities to engage in activities to limit costs and improve inventory turns and accuracy.

As our Purchasing Specialist I, you’ll be assisting with purchasing, forecasting, and auditing records of all inventory transactions.You’ll monitor stock levels, and track purchase orders to ensure that at all warehouses, companywide, have sufficient stock as it relates to construction. You'll also have opportunities to engage in activities to limit costs and improve inventory turns and accuracy.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities related to purchasing, planning, and receiving
- Follow up on orders and obtain tracking information from suppliers
- Ensure delivery dates are met and communicate with branches when there are delays
- Reconciling orders in the system and following up on order discrepancies
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing transactions and update the inventory system (Fishbowl) with new, incoming and outgoing products
- Provide purchasing reports as required
- Analyze levels of business supplies and material to identify shortages
- Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors
- Collaborate with Branch Management and Accounts Payable on onboarding local vendors
- Assist with new warehouse launches and Fishbowl implementation
- A minimum of 1 year experience with inventory and/or purchasing
- An analytical mind with attention to detail and strong math skills
- Excellent customer service, organizational and planning skills
- Experience working with inventory management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and Google Suite
- Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Regularly use office equipment and computers for extended periods of time
- Comfortable reviewing and entering information into a PC for extended periods of time
- Communicate professionally through email and phone
- Ability to work on projects with deadlines
- Able to move from sitting to standing positions, bend, twist, and use hands and fingers
- See details of objects that are less than a few feet away
- Can speak clearly so listeners can understand, and listen to understand another person
- Occasionally lift 5-10 pounds
