Position Overview
The 30+ year company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is positioned along the Houston Ship Channel providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to industry. The eLearning Instructional Designer Intern is responsible for the development of multimedia courseware using a variety of software and scripting languages.
Essential Job Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle training equipment and tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is typically in an office environment and will also require travel as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The eLearning Instructional Designer reports directly to the Supervisor of eLearning Instructional Design. This position does not have direct reports.

The eLearning Instructional Designer Intern is responsible for the development of multimedia courseware using a variety of software and scripting languages.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Utilizes HASC owned software and templates as well as other templates to develop comprehensive multimedia courses.
- Codes the courseware, integrating artwork, test, video, audio, and question files within the course framework.
- Creates custom subject matter scripts for implementation into courseware, working directly with customers.
- Gathers and modifies artwork, develops and enhances audio files, and creates custom question files on specific topics for designated comprehension levels.
- Verifies content and formatting
- Gathers feedback from customers on course development needs.
- Meets with customers on the specifics of projects, new technologies, and project deadlines.
- Receives feedback from quality assurance testing in the multimedia lab and makes necessary changes.
- Prepares multimedia courses to be delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists other departments as needed.
- Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS)
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients
- Critical thinking skills
- Thorough understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong initiative to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
- Ability to prioritize, strong time management skills
- Willingness to work at different locations when the company need arises.
