Job Summary

Serves as Fraternal Insurance Agent directly responsible for the marketing, sale, and service of insurance policies in a defined territory, reporting to the California General Sales Manager. The Fraternal Insurance Agent is an outside salesperson.

Job Responsibilities

The following duties reflect the primary responsibilities performed in this job. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Achieve production quotas in the Agent’s territory, as set by the General Sales Manager, the Regional Insurance Executive for California, and the Home Office. Provide personalized and professional service to policyholders and their families, fulfilling the Order’s commitment to charity, unity, and fraternity.
  • Identify and recruit new members to increase the potential market for KofC insurance.
  • Engage with members in the work of the Order by participating in common worship, charitable works, meetings, and initiation rites, in order to unite all members in the Catholic faith, encourage greater membership and commitment, and further the mission of the Order.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the laws, policies and procedures of the Order preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of and experience with local and/or state Council operations preferred.
  • Prior quota bearing sales experience preferred.
  • Effective oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently day-to-day and as part of a regional team.

Systems/Technical Knowledge

Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Interactions

Within KofC HQ: All internal KofC departments.

Outside of KofC HQ: Local, district and state Council leadership, members, and insurance agents.

Education And Experience Requirements

Education: BA or BS degree preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years of sales experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing/Certification: Must receive and maintain all required insurance licenses.

Language: English.

Other: Eligible for membership and joins before start of employment.

Performance Indicators

  • Achieves quarterly and annual production goals including both insurance metrics and membership growth.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service orientation; feedback from internal and external sources on service provided and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills, particularly timely and complete submission of insurance applications and thorough preparation for meetings with policyholders and potential purchasers.
  • Participates in local and state council charitable works, common worship, meetings, and initiation rites.

Decision Making

  • Functions as an outside sales professional.
  • Makes recommendations to General Sales Manager and Regional Insurance Executive regarding marketing, sales, and membership growth initiatives.
  • Determines own schedule.

Problem Solving & Complexity

  • Able to manage complex financial questions and products; requires application of specific technical skills and expertise.

90-day training period paid at $20 per hour.
