Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Payroll Administrator II to join our team in Dallas, TX. This is a hybrid position that allows the employee to work three days in the office, two days from home.

The Payroll Administrator II accurately maintains employee master data, while accurately processing all union rates, payments, reports and audits. This individual also ensures data is maintained in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, prevailing wage requirements and union contracts as well as company policies, procedures and internal controls. This position requires the ability to multi-task and to be highly detail-oriented due to strict time constraints, high transaction volume and working in a service bureau setting.

Essential Functions

  • Review all requests to update employee master data for accuracy. Communicate any form completion deficiencies to and provide training on form completion to Human Resources staff.
  • Complete entry of employee master data in JD Edwards (JDE) and Dayforce in accordance with the Payroll Processing calendar.
  • Distribute reviewed and/or entered requests to update employee master data or requests for other payroll related processing to the appropriate payroll team member in a timely manner.
  • Complete entry of assigned employee deduction, benefit, and accrual instructions excluding one-time overrides. Some examples include auto allowance benefits, voluntary donation deductions, and cell phone equipment reimbursement deductions.
  • Complete all processes for union reporting, payments, and audits. Reconcile payments to general ledger balances.
  • Maintain My Records user information and transmit new user files each Wednesday.
  • Complete all assigned journal entries within JDE.
  • Maintain prevailing wage rates within JDE.
  • Maintain union wage, benefit, and deduction rates within JDE.
  • Write all documentation for payroll administrator processes maintaining necessary updates.
  • Respond to all requests for information within two (2) business days of receipt. If a request cannot be completed within two (2) business days, work with the customer to determine a mutually acceptable date for report completion.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Working Conditions

Majority of work is completed in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Periodic travel required.

Education, Experience and Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years of “in house” payroll experience including entry of employee master data; union and prevailing wage payroll experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of payroll related work processes and best practices
  • Strong computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software. Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC), company communication tools (e.g. email, internet), and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
  • Dayforce experience preferred
  • JD Edwards experience a plus
  • Ability to meet strict daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking capabilities while maintaining organization and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills
