Summary:


Payroll Specialist serves in a strategic support role within a fast-paced, time-sensitive, deadline driven and results oriented environment. This role will handle tasks of processing payroll, managing records, resolving inquiries while under the supervision of the Payroll Manager. This role will also assist human resources and accounting and adheres to high ethical and confidential standards.


Responsibilities:


  • Supports payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
  • Review timecards, troubleshoot timeclocks deficiencies and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to ensure accurate employee records, payroll data and processes.
  • Verify and process payroll calculations, ensuring accurate payments are made to employees on time.
  • Verify and process commission and bonus payroll calculations and payments.
  • Enter payroll data into software systems and generate all payroll reports for review.
  • Monitor the accurate processing of staff appointments, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Prepare and review monthly payroll account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate vacation and sick time balances.
  • Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements (e.g. W2, 941R, 940, and SOD).
  • Ensure adherence to tax regulations (federal, state, and local), labor laws, and company policies.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in resolving issues relating to payroll production.
  • Assist with payroll audits and ensure compliance (401K and Workers Compensation).
  • Complete all other responsibilities as directed by manager.


Qualifications / Requirements:


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years of payroll experience
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Maintains high ethical and confidential standards.
  • Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software (ADP WorkforceNow & ADP Streamline).
