Brief Description

BASIC FUNCTION

This position will support the Quality Manager in establishing and maintaining quality and food safety system, managing specifications and instituting statistical process control (SPC)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Quality Assurance

  • Work towards enhancing the current quality and food system to meet BRC requirements
  • Initiate, maintain and control quality system documentation
  • Coordinate internal audits, management reviews and corrective action
  • Audit operator inspection and report compliance
  • Coordinate training of operators, packers and quality personnel on quality procedures
  • Maintain quality reports on part weights, scrap, performance, sigma levels etc.
  • Develop and maintain forms and instructions for recording/evaluating/reporting quality data
  • Manage product specifications and quality records
  • Assist in administering the complaint handling process ensuring timely response to satisfy the customer
  • Follow-up on corrective actions and closing of customer complaints
  • Coordinate corrective action reviews

Food Safety

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining the company’s Food Safety Program
  • Perform food safety audits and report non-conformances
  • Maintain food safety/GMP related records for third party audits
  • Administer material traceability program

Quality Engineering

  • Evaluate and implement data collection and charting techniques
  • Train personnel and oversee implementation of real-time SPC
  • Establish SPC pilot programs at all plants and subsequently enhance to encompass all lines and products
  • Monitor compliance and asses effective use of SPC to improve quality and reduce scrap.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of ISO 9001. SPC/SQC . BRC knowledge is a significant plus.
  • Strong problem-solving & decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of quality processes, procedures, & measuring and testing equipment.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be detail oriented with good communication skills.
  • Must have ability to train and influence shop floor personnel.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • Five years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics, two years in quality.
  • Food safety knowledge desired
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining SPC system
  • Experience in establishing quality management system

CERTIFICATION

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer/Auditor

HACCP Certification preferred
