Clearbrook is a non-profit, social services agency that is dedicated to providing innovative services, tools and opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome.

The Director of Community Living Services is directly responsible for the operations and administration of all facilities and their staff.

Essential Functions

  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Illinois Department of Public Health (if applicable) and Department of Human Services regulations and be responsible for ensuring that the facilities are operated in compliance with these regulations.
  • Participate in and respond to all surveys by all departments listed above to develop and ensure implementation of any necessary plan of correction.
  • Delegate, in writing, authority for the administration of the facilities to appropriate staff person during his/her absence or in an emergency situation.
  • Participate in Program Director and Administrator meetings as scheduled.
  • Prepare materials for board meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Keep apprised of current practices and developments in residential service provisions and apply these principles to the Residential Programs when applicable.
  • Assume responsibility for adequate and appropriate upkeep of the buildings and grounds by overseeing housekeeping, repairs, custodial maintenance, and contract grounds services in cooperation with the Vice President of Business Operations and Maintenance Engineer.

Program

  • Maintain, update and implement written policies and procedures covering all services provided by the facilities.
  • Establish and maintain contact between the facilities and families, guardians, and community organizations necessary for proper programming and for meeting client needs.
  • Responsible for appropriate and regular in-service training sessions for all staff in cooperation with the Training Department.
  • It is the responsibility of the Director of Community Living Services to maintain confidentiality with all clients and their families and maintain a professional image/role as a representative of the agency.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures established for Clearbrook, the Community Living Services Program, and those of all governing bodies.

Business

  • Have an understanding of the funding mechanisms under which the facilities operate and work with the Business Office, as necessary, to ensure that the programs comply with funding requirements.
  • Develop and implement sound financial management of the facilities in cooperation with the Vice President of Finance and the Vice President of Adult Services.

Personnel

  • Ensure compliance with Clearbrook’s personnel policies as they relate to the programs and their staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Clearbrook’s Human Resources policy and procedures as outlined in the H. R. manual as they relate to the programs and their staff.
  • Successfully implement PHI coaching approach as well as utilize PHI techniques when communicating with staff.
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff of programs.
  • Complete performance reviews of assigned staff.
  • Preside at or assign staff meetings as necessary for the effective operation of the facilities and the proper and timely dissemination of information.
  • Complete mandatory training annually.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

Education-

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in related field

Experience

Minimum:

  • At least 2 years of related experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience

Preferred

  • At least 5 years of related experience

Skills

  • Microsoft Office proficient, knowledge of governing rules
