Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and direct them towards the different products that they are seeking or that are being promoted, if necessary.
- Get to know the products and the store layout.
- Charge in a kind, patient and timely manner. Being efficient without losing the focus on customer service.
- Ensure that labeled products have the correct price and weight.
- Make the correct transactions, distinguishing between credit card, WIC, Lone Star and cash.
- Pay attention to detail in cash handling and ensuring that the paper bills are not fake.
- Bag and properly separate customer purchases.
- Ensure that the customer takes all their purchases before proceeding to the next transaction.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Place all the merchandise that was returned or unwanted in the corresponding place.
- Maintain the right amount of products around the registers' area to promote sales. (Medicine, shampoo and beverages, etc.).
- Gather and place adequate amounts of bags and paper rolls for the register, in the registers' area.
- Leave the cash register ready for the next shift with bags, paper rolls and without trash.
- Promote the sale of additional products to increase average sales ticket.
- Follow the rules and laws governing the sale of tobacco and alcohol.
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Keep work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards.
- Report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
- PERFORM ANY OTHER TASK ASSIGNED BY THE STORE MANAGER.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic knowledge of mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Monetary knowledge: capacity to make change and give receipts.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
