We are looking for an experienced Building Automation Controls Technician to be responsible for the start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning of equipment, modifying the programming, point-to-point check out, testing, and implementation of commercial building automation system projects. The successful candidate will be able to perform start-up on several projects while meeting or exceeding time, quality, and budget constraints for each project.

Duties:

  • Start-up of the control on the equipment
  • Work with the Control Engineer to solve any issues on the project
  • Be able to troubleshoot equipment and wiring
  • Be able to read mechanical drawings and control submittals
  • Follow electrical diagrams
  • Be able to troubleshoot HVAC and electrical issues
  • Be comfortable working around 3 phase 480-volt power, 120 VAC, and 24 Volt Vac
  • Interact with clients to interpret their needs and requirements; and represent Andy Egan in the field
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and installation teams to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Modify programs that were created by the Control Engineer to match conditions in the space to ensure proper operation
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with Construction Managers and customers, as well as other project participants to provide assistance and technical support
  • Perform and document system commissioning and sequential testing
  • Must be willing to travel to service our customers in our three offices: Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Benton Harbor/St. Joseph area.

Skills & Experience:

  • Johnson Controls CCT Programming software or similar (preferred)
  • Must have Tridium Niagara N4 experience/certification or JCI Metasys experience
  • Previous HVAC Service Technician experience
  • Working knowledge of BAS engineering software packages

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience servicing and troubleshooting Commercial BAS systems (willing to train Controls installers)
  • Proficiency or certifications in JCI, Distech, Alerton, Siemens, Metasys, or Tridium are highly sought after
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment
  • Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, & Visio
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to work with multiple projects
  • Project management and supervision skills
  • Decision making ability, accountability, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Time management and organization skills
