About the Role: The Network Engineer position is in a team-oriented environment on the Network and Communications team. The individual filling the position will work with customers, the networking team, and other IT staff. Key responsibilities include developing solutions to complex problems and providing technical support, testing, and problem diagnostics on a Cisco network. The candidate must have the ability to completely manage assigned systems including; system reliability, patching, security, back-ups, change management, and demonstrate the ability to take ownership of these systems. The position requires working stand-by, working after hours/weekends, and on-call duties. The position will require traveling within the KUB service territory to remote KUB locations for installs, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work / field work; exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and can bend, stoop and lift. Sedentary work involves sitting in normal office conditions. Must be able to climb steps and work from ladders in a combination of office and field environments. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and / or exceed those demands described above.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Ability to properly install, configure, support, and manage Cisco network devices and Microsoft Windows servers

Working knowledge and understanding of IT security and secure network design

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license

Preferred Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related experience

2 + years of Windows system administration and field management experience

Avaya VOIP phone system management/exposure

Experience with the administration of Cisco devices including Identity Services Engine (ISE), wireless, switches, and routers

Knowledge of network protocols, BGP, OSPF, VRF, OTV, VLAN, 802.1x, DNS, and DHCP

Have or is working toward gaining Microsoft Certifications, A+, Network+, Cisco and/or IT Security certifications

Experience working on telecommunications equipment in remote locations
