Summary of Position:

The Inside Sales position supports Sales & Purchasing along with management of an assigned book of Inside Sales Accounts. This person will be responsible for daily interactions with key customers primarily in meat, seafood, and gourmet products. This role involves order entry and facilitation of the onboarding process for customers. This role will be responsible for achieving both revenue and margin targets for assigned accounts while increasing Fortune’s penetration. The Inside Sales Support Generalist will collaborate and assist with several departments and positions to increase sales while supporting program efforts for the aforementioned product specifications. Prior food service or retail experience in meat, seafood, cheese, or gourmet foods required.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, set up, and manage direct ship to customers. This includes determining availability, forecasting inventories, negotiating pricing, and arranging delivery of the product.
  • Create and implement strategic sales plans to meet the needs of specific customer channels.
  • Consult and advise the customer on pricing, available quantities, shipping terms, and special customer requirements.
  • Communicate short shipments, quality issues, price discrepancies, credits, and program changes to Outside Sales as well as active customers and follow up on inbound questions.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of weekly price lists.
  • Run reports and maintain real-time sales data to effectively control inventory and sales order volumes.
  • Assist with credit process, i.e. process new item setup requests, assist with account collections, statements, and other accounts receivables that may apply.
  • Participate actively in vendor meetings as well as company meetings.
  • Be the point of contact for any walk-ins and provide customer service.
  • Answer the main line and direct calls as needed.
  • Follow all Fortune’s policies as outlined in our Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education - High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience - One to two years of customer service.
  • Work ethic - A demonstrated sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines.
  • Communication - Ability to communicate in English.
  • Hours - Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including potential weekends and nights, to meet customer and business needs.
