Overview
Snyder & Associates has an immediate opening for an Archaeological Field Technician. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist.

Projects, both local and non-local, will be mobilized from our Ankeny office and include the following responsibilities:

Snyder & Associates has an immediate opening for an Archaeological Field Technician. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist.
Responsibilities
Projects, both local and non-local, will be mobilized from our Ankeny office and include the following responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys in accordance with federal, state, and company standards
- Carry out shovel testing, excavation, and comprehensive site documentation.
- Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
- Assist with artifact identification, labeling, and cataloging
- Record accurate and detailed field notes, including maps, photographs, and standardized forms
- Participate in GPS data collection in the field under the supervision of Project Archaeologist
- Performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Archaeological field school or prior archaeological field survey experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
- Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week when needed.
- Working knowledge of archaeological survey protocols.
- Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.
- B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field will be advantageous.
