Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our nursing home team. The ideal candidate will assist in planning and facilitating recreational programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents. This role requires creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life through engaging activities and social interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and leading recreational activities, including arts and crafts, music, games, fitness programs, and social events.
  • Encourage resident participation by adapting activities to meet individual abilities, needs, and interests.
  • Provide one-on-one engagement for residents who require additional support or prefer individualized activities.
  • Assist in decorating activity spaces and setting up for special events, holidays, and themed programs.
  • Escort residents to and from activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Monitor and assess resident engagement, documenting participation and feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to tailor activities to residents' preferences and abilities.
  • Follow all safety protocols, infection control policies, and company procedures to maintain a secure and sanitary environment.
  • Assist in coordinating community involvement, including volunteer and family participation in activities.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in recreation, gerontology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare, recreational, or senior care setting preferred.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for engaging residents in meaningful activities.
  • Patience and empathy when working with elderly individuals, including those with dementia or mobility challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and activity planning.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage in activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility or participate in light physical activity.


Work Schedule:

  • Full-time or part-time positions available.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
