
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as branch assistant salesman. Track sales leads, develop rapport with existing customers, develop basic project estimating ability (labor, freight, equipment, material), prepare price quotes using SafQuote software along with BrandSafway product manuals and input both from the branch salesman and the branch construction manager.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the company’s contracting and insurance processes. Be able to conduct liaison between BrandSafway and its customers on points of contract negotiation.
- Develop a basic understanding of the branch’s labor cost structure — union wages and benefits, payroll taxes, general liability insurance, workman’s compensation insurance, small tools, consumables, personal protective equipment, per diem, and expenses.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the branch’s ground level construction methods, capabilities, and limitations: the scaffold components and their proper employment; the efficient use of mechanical support equipment such as forklifts, lulls, boom lifts, and cranes; the production limits of a builder under varying conditions during eight- to twelve-hour days; and the challenges of scheduling.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the branch’s safety procedures including appropriate selection and employment of personal protective equipment, job site design, inspections, pre-job hazard assessments and mitigation plans, daily safety checks, routine safety observations.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the procedures, opportunities, and pitfalls associated with performing work over and above that work specified in a base contract document.
- Develop a basic understanding of the branch’s warehouse and shipping & receiving operations and a working understanding of the BAS inventory management system.
- Employ the above, hard-won abilities and understanding to support the branch in identifying opportunities, winning work, contracting, and executing safe, profitable projects.
Qualifications:
- A junior naval or military officer about to exit active service would have some of the background needed to succeed.
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical subject is preferred but not required.
- A training credential in Microsoft Excel, or experience working Excel formulas is a strong plus.
- Substantial “outdoor” experience of any kind – Eagle Scout, commercial fishing, fire/EMT, forestry, farming, construction, high school or college varsity sports — is a plus.
- Expect travel up to 25% of the time.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position.
