WWFHC follows all federal and state mandates for employee health and safety. Exemptions may be made to this policy and are determined on a case-by-case basis if there are medical contraindications for vaccine or recognized religious beliefs prohibiting vaccinations. If received other vaccines, they may not qualify for exemptions. Exemptions must be requested and approved before first day of work. New employees who have not yet had the vaccine must be full vaccinated, or schedule to be vaccinated as soon as possible based on CDC guidelines. Weekly testing will be required if exemption is approved
- The Dental Clerk is responsible for a variety of front office tasks relating to the efficient provision of medical services at WWFHC. These activities include scheduling, intake, fee collection, filing, chart preparation, insurance verification, answering phone calls, and other duties as assigned by the Dentist or Hygienist.
- Maintains a full-time presence at the dental reception area of the clinic
- Greets Dental patients, performs intake duties, and notifies appropriate dental staff of the patient’s arrival
- Register new patients entering their demographic, insurance/income assessment information into the computer.
- Answers telephone and schedules all appointments in conjunction with approved protocols
- Prepares patient chart for further documentation by dental staff
- Answer patient questions regarding medical insurance, DHS/social service programs, and other community resources and places of business such as the Social Security Office and Health Dept.
- Verifies patient’s insurance and assigns sliding fee designation where appropriate
- Checks patients out at the end of appointments: review charts for appropriate coding and charges, collects appropriate fees from patients, processing billing information for payment and schedules follow-up appointments
- Audits patient charts for coding errors or incomplete information, correct errors and/or notify appropriate dental staff who can correct errors
- Runs the end of the day report and balances the cash drawer. Maintain cash fund with record of deposits and withdrawals from the fund.
- Keeps appropriate people informed.
- Speaks and writes clearly, concisely, and appropriately for need.
- Listens carefully.
- Communicates tactfully.
- Understands that all confidentiality and privacy considerations are respected and fostered at work and off duty.
- High School Diploma
- One (1) year experience in a dental or medical office.
- Knowledge or general dental processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of various insurance plans and government programs and how to register patients into the programs or check eligibility
- Experience with widely used computer software i.e., Microsoft Office, Outlook and healthcare/dental software used for patient data/files
- Skilled at providing excellent customer focused customer service.
- Skilled with working in a complex work environment.
