The Sr. Design Assurance Engineer position will work with exciting new technology in our Imaging and Detection business. This position will perform system, and sub-system level validation and verification (V&V) activities and will include software, hardware V&V of multiple products in production and development environments to ensure that new and design iterations meet Analogic and our customer’s specific requirements. The role includes V&V planning testing, prioritization, analyses, and reporting to stakeholders. It involves the use of Analogic’s defect tracking tools, and other tools as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Defines and implements standards, methods, and procedures for testing and evaluating the performance of security systems against their design requirements.
  • Develop reporting capabilities for the team to communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage defect tracking and resolution processes so that a consistent, documented process is used and followed.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines involved in the support of all design assurance activities to ensure successful product launch release to production.
  • Supervise the work lead and team of V&V engineers to ensure products meet their hardware/software/system requirements.
  • Utilize a combination of data collection, data analysis and creative test approaches to develop and verify Premium Security and Detection Systems.
  • Work closely with development engineers to understand design and analytically stress the functionality, performance, and usability of system features.
  • Work hands-on with assembled prototype systems using their engineering skill sets and utilize problem-solving process to find defects and improve quality of the product design.
  • Participate in the development of security and detection systems in an Agile test environment through stages of design inputs to design outputs and transfer.
  • May supervisor a small team of engineers.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science discipline, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is desired.

Experience

  • Five or more years of product development V&V experience of which two or more years of verification and validation experience working with large electromechanical systems.
  • Experience managing / supervising a team, a plus.

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of production/quality development and control methods; CtQ definition, DfSS, SPC, APQP, FMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Copy Exact Policies, etc.
  • Performance/process metrics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, Lean, DfX, Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), and complaint resolution.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, conflict resolution and relationship building skills with the ability to motivate and influence others in support of cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Agile.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project management skills capable of managing project plans, scope, schedule and budget for multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage and develop a diverse team to achieve successful business results.
  • Experience with problem tracking tools, ie. JIRA
  • Prior experience with requirements flowdown and traceability tools, JAMA, DOORS
  • Experience with test automation on a large scale.
  • Prior experience in design engineering or manufacturing or research experience in the design field.
  • Domain knowledge in the use environment for CT or related imaging modality is a plus.
