RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, and carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Designer to join our communications team at RAINN. The ideal candidate brings a strong, informed, and thoughtful creative perspective to every assignment. This is matched by their healthy reverence for brand fidelity and knowledge and application of design standards. They will be expected to deliver high-quality, visually compelling designs for a range of content and collateral in service of the organization’s mission and goals. They are comfortable assessing the design needs of internal clients, managing multiple priorities, and communicating with stakeholders throughout the design process to set and meet reasonable deadlines and goals. This role means working in collaboration across multiple teams and a successful candidate will demonstrate experience in and appreciation of a project management process to keep things moving and transparent, is enthusiastically open to giving and receiving feedback in the design process, and is proactive about searching out answers and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design engaging and on-brand graphics for various projects, including web and social graphics, digital and print materials including reports and presentations, marketing assets, and more.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to translate concepts into visually appealing designs that support their goals.
  • Follow established project management processes, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for implementation and accessibility
  • Maintain brand consistency across all designs while adapting to different program needs.
  • Review and refine designs based on feedback, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Stay up to date on design trends, tools, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, digital media, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of professional design experience within an organization.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
  • Experience with graphics software including InDesign.
  • Experience creating compelling designs for print and digital materials and preparing files for printing and download.
  • Experience working with multiple program teams and development departments.
  • Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to follow structured project management processes and meet deadline.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in UX/UI design is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is a bonus but not required.

RAINN headquarters are based in Washington, DC. This position may be based regionally for someone whose residence is within the continental USA.Although this may be a remote role, it may require some periodic business travel to our DC offices for onsite meetings and training sessions.
