Histotechnician

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately processes and prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination to aid physicians in determining, confirming or prescribing treatment for patients. Demonstrates proficiency and understanding on all aspects pertaining to histological techniques. Utilizes LIS in conjunction with advanced bar code tracking system to record and locate specimens throughout the processing phases. Maintains records and specimen storage.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent experience and successful completion of an approved structured histology program or certification in histology by a recognized agency. Two years histopathology recommended.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Certification in histology by a recognized agency is required.
