Essential Functions

Work Focus: Performs a variety of complex, internal & external Privacy and administrative duties with a high degree of skill and accuracy. Willingly assists colleagues to ensure all Privacy COE needs are met.

  • Performs periodic assessment activities to measure levels of risk and compliance throughout Trinity Health in coordination with other operational assessments.

Process Focus: Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports and develop educational materials. Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge. Incorporates basic knowledge of regulatory compliance and TH policies, practices and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized. Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency. Helps to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and advise the team through resolution.

Project Management: Manages & implements small-scale projects, programs & initiatives. Develops & manages aligned production, communications, service delivery plans & workflows to ensure plans are successfully implemented & services are delivered on time, on budget & to specifications. Develops and provides live training sessions to business clients on Privacy contract policies, procedures and use of contract management system.

  • Prepares access monitoring outcome documentation for various committees and stakeholders
  • Monitors and audits EHR access and investigates inappropriate access findings with HR regional partners to colleagues and their direct managers.
  • Assists with the implementation of new projects and procedures resulting from regulatory changes or new privacy initiatives.

Data Management & Analysis: Research & compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects & initiatives. Synthesizes & analyzes data & provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends & recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy & supporting leadership decision making. Leverages program & operational data & measurements to define & demonstrate progress, ROI & impacts.

  • Maintains up to date documentation of the monitoring program in the privacy database.

  • Works collaboratively with the EPIC business intelligence team on report troubleshooting and improvement efforts.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of conduct, as well as other policies & procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years health care experience, including Integrity and Audit Services
  • Experience with computers including MicroSoft 365, EMR technology and database utilization.
  • Experience with EMR; e.g., EPIC

Additional Qualifications (nice To Have)

  • Knowledge of Trinity Health operations and IT applications
  • Compliance, Audit and/or Privacy Certification

  • Occasional clinical / patient facing work environment.
  • Includes continuous work time indoors (subject to travel requirements) under temperature-controlled & well-lit conditions; may encounter occasional variable external environmental conditions.
  • Includes occasional lifting, up to 30 pounds unassisted, occasional travel, frequent use of computer; Includes continuous sitting & may require occasional long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling & pushing.

Direct Healthcare & Indirect / Support Healthcare Services: must be able to:

  • Adapt to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities & stressful situations; Attend to tasks until complete, understand & relate to complex ideas & concepts & be able to remember multiple tasks & regimens extending over long periods of time & work on concurrent tasks / projects.
  • Continuously Read small print, frequent ability to hear normal sounds & voice patterns, able to give / receive instructions & other verbal communications in-person & over the phone / computer / device / equipment assigned with some background noise.
  • Perform frequent manual dexterity activities & occasional grasping/handling.
  • Continuous attention to maintain a safe working environment & use of available personal protective equipment (PPE).
