As a VOB Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for verifying insurance coverage for individuals seeking treatment. You’ll work closely with our admissions and clinical teams to ensure accurate and timely verification of insurance benefits related to behavioral health and substance use disorder services.

Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming calls and requests for insurance verification.
  • Verify eligibility, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and coverage limits for mental health and substance abuse treatment services.
  • Accurately document and input insurance information into the admissions system.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, families, and internal departments.
  • Follow up with insurance companies as needed to clarify or confirm benefit details.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to support the pre-admission process.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Meet productivity and quality benchmarks related to response time and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in insurance verification, preferably in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance and Medicaid/Medicare plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with individuals in crisis or distress.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and confidentiality practices.
