Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring proper use and monitoring for side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy or coordinate with other therapeutic services as needed.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and team discussions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, offering education and support.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal and ethical standards for confidentiality and patient care.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatry and mental health treatment.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Mentor and supervise medical students, residents, or other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Quality Improvement:
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and facility operations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
- Education:
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a specialization in psychiatry, or
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Licensure:
- Valid state license to practice as an NP, PA, MD, or DO.
- Certification:
- Board certification in Psychiatry for MD/DO, or
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for NPs.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment and treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- The position is based in a mental health facility, which may include inpatient, outpatient, or residential treatment settings.
- The role involves working with diverse patient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and elderly individuals.
- Participation in on-call rotations and flexible working hours may be required to meet patient needs.
- Ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
