The Manager of Insights and Data Science will lead a high-performing team of analysts and data scientists. In collaboration with business and technical stakeholders, product owners, and the larger Data and Analytics organization, their team is responsible for delivering actionable insights and advanced analytic and AI solutions for Casey’s enterprise to support business growth and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of analysts and data scientists. Foster a culture of learning and collaboration to ensure high-quality delivery of analytical insights and data products. Responsible for hiring, training, salary administration, performance management and corrective actions for direct reports. Collaborate with team members on career development and goal setting.
  • Lead analytic studies and data science initiatives. Help Casey’s deliver on its strategic initiatives through analytic studies and AI/ML products that enable data-driven decision making and solve complex business needs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders. Act as a trusted partner to the business, understanding their needs, challenges, and opportunities. Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to identify and prioritize analytics requirements, develop insights, and deliver solutions that drive business growth and operational excellence.
  • Drive adoption and value of analytics across the organization. Promote the use of analytics and data science at Casey’s. Take ownership of and promote Casey’s test and learn practice and shared analytic applications. Develop and nurture a community of analysts and practice across the organization, providing training, best practices, and fostering cross-departmental communication to enhance skills and promote self-service and self-sufficiency.
  • Work collaboratively across departments. Work with the data strategy team to align data-driven initiatives with organizational goals. Partner with product ownership to manage and deliver on the analytics roadmap. Collaborate with the data team and stakeholders to establish and enforce data and model governance policies.
  • Stay current on the state of the art in data, analytics, and AI. Evaluate the practical applications to Casey’s business and position the team as a recognized authority in these areas.

This role does not allow for 100% remote work. Qualified out of state candidates must be willing to relocate and will need to live within a daily commutable distance of Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA and be willing to work onsite 5 days per week.

Compensation

Starting pay range:‏‏‎ ‎$120,200‏‏‎ ‎-‏‏‎ ‎$167,300.‏‏‎ ‎ Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance and an annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline or work-related equivalent experience.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience leading and managing a team within a data-driven organization, leading and developing a team of analysts and/or data scientists with a track record of delivering valuable insights and data products.
  • Strong expertise in data analysis, statistical/ML modeling, and BI tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and process improvement skills.
  • Leadership, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines and teams, including third parties.

Preferred Skills

  • Databricks or a similar cloud data and analytics platform experience.
  • Application of AI to solve domain-specific use cases.
  • Retail or CPG industry experience is a plus.
