Who We Are Looking For
Are you the Educational Advocate we have been looking for? In this part-time position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others by working with our youth and their families!
The JRI Educational Advocacy Program, located in Taunton, provides advocacy services for children and youth with emotional, behavioral, physical, or learning disabilities, as well as spectrum disorders. JRI’s goal is to ensure that children with disabilities receive the services and accommodations necessary to participate and succeed in the least restrictive environment while receiving equal educational opportunities. The JRI Educational Advocacy program will assist parents, caregivers and state agency staff to navigate the special education process, provide direct advocacy, access appropriate educational services and mediate in dispute resolution between parent, caregiver and schools. Services are delivered in an individualized, flexible, and coordinated manner. The primary goal of the program is to empower families and caregivers with the knowledge that they will need to continue to advocate for their children/foster children following assistance from the JRI Educational Advocate.

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred. Experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of Special Education law, IEP process, and Federal Regulations governing Special Education are required.
- Three years’ experience as a Special Education Advocate, teacher or administrator. Extensive background in the TEAM meeting process and requirements.
- Maintains valid driver’s license. Daily access to a working, registered, insured vehicle.
- Background and driving record checks will be performed.
