Job Title: Museum Associate

Location: Heisey Glass Museum (On-Site) – Newark, Ohio

Compensation: $15 per hour

Schedule: Part-Time (~20 hours/week, with potential for additional hours during special events)

The Museum Associate serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable front-line representative of the Heisey Glass Museum and the Heisey Collectors of America (HCA). This role involves guest interaction, museum shop operations, data entry, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional, organized, and capable of managing a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Greet visitors at the door and provide a warm, professional welcome.
• Answer questions or refer visitors to the appropriate staff.
• Conduct museum tours and promote HCA memberships.

• Input membership data into the database.
• Prepare and send membership renewals, donation acknowledgments, and membership cards.
• Assist in the layout, production, and mailing of the monthly newsletter.
• Provide support for mass and individual correspondence.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Publisher, typing, word processing, and basic filing is required

• Answer phone calls in a friendly, professional manner.
• Route inquiries to the appropriate staff as needed.

• Clean merchandise and shelving units, arrange displays, and suggest restocking needs to the Museum Director.
• Assist guests with purchases, process payments, package items, and take phone orders.
• Mark merchandise for sale, maintain stock levels and organization, and ensure work and display areas are tidy.

• Assist with packing, shipping, and receiving.
• Perform light cleaning and trash removal on days when cleaning staff are not present.
• Support extended and off-site hours for special events, such as the annual convention or benefit auction.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and special events (overtime paid for hours over 40/week).
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to maintain a professional museum/shop environment.
• No prior knowledge of Heisey Glass or HCA required—training will be provided.
