Socket is currently seeking an experienced Fiber Splicing Technician to join our dynamic team. This advanced-level field service position involves performing a variety of fiber optic splicing tasks, including (but not limited to) mainline splicing, curbside and customer premise work, extending demarcation points, troubleshooting inside wiring and central office issues, and thoroughly testing all completed splices.
This position involves frequent travel, with the possibility of occasional overnight stays and planned maintenance tasks. It also requires availability for on-call duty and emergency response during outages.

- Be a resource to internal staff regarding splicing practices and procedures
- Complete detailed, documented reports on splicing activity

- Regular reliable attendance
- Ability to fusion or mechanically splice fiber lines
- Know how to pull cable, terminate, and understand cable standards
- Awareness of building/fire codes
- Installation and testing of pressurized/non-pressurized closures for all types of cable
- Experience with a Fiber Optic Scope and/or Fiber OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
- Ability to terminate all telecommunications mediums; twisted pair, cable, coax, and fiber to BISCI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) standards
- Experience in the splicing field
- College preferred, but not necessary
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret, report, and present information
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivation
- Proven ability to work in a fast paced, time critical environment
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
- Proficient in using computers
- Ability to use tools
- Being able to lift up to 70lbs
- Ability to differentiate between colors
- Must be able to safely climb and descend ladders or other structures up to 28ft
- Ensure the safe operation of a bucket truck in strict adherence to all safety protocols, including compliance with weight limit guidelines.
