SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The focal point for all mechanical design activities related to automation products in NA. Working closely with Schuler Automation (SAT), Service sales, and Purchasing, modify and adapt existing automation designs to suit the NA market, creating new designs, layouts and BOM for new equipment and service products as required.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using CAD drafting tools prepare designs, layouts and detail for new and existing automation products.
  • Working closely with Purchasing and engineering review and adapt existing designs for economic manufacture in NA.
  • Develop and maintain standards and specifications for NA sourced automation products.
  • Support new equipment and service sales with layouts and concept designs for automation products.
  • Participate in customer and supplier design reviews.
  • Interfaces with the internal and external customers and suppliers as needed to resolve design related issues and technical concerns.
  • Create manufacturing drawings, BOM and documentation for locally sourced automation products.
  • Take lead role in the introduction of CATIA and any other simulation software used within SAT to the SIC engineering department.
  • Take lead role in the integration of SIC into the Schuler group wide CATIA / Enovia system.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five (5) years’ experience in CAD, Familiar with CATIA, AutoCAD
  • Experience with mechanical design for machine tools.
  • Must be able and willing to travel.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Highly organized and time conscious
  • Possess strong analytical aptitude

  • Fluent in English with advanced reading and writing skills
  • German Language skills would be a plus.
  • Visa holders/English as Second Language (ESL) individuals must take TOEFL exam and score above passing grade.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Engineering Manager, close working relationship with SAT product manager and Service sales and application engineer.


MISCELLANEOUS

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
