The Regional Physicist verifies, documents and maintains all information used in calculation and delivery of radiation doses given to patients. Analyzes and evaluates equipment performance used in the delivery of radiation therapy. Provides technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed at the regional practice. Provides cross-coverage to other regional sites, which includes travel to other regional practice sites as staffing warrants. Remains current in all treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practice relevant to the regional site. Provides instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, pre- and postdoctoral students. Develops, and performs quality assurance procedures and monitors radiation output, mechanical integrity and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy. Remains current on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines in particular applicable at the regional site.

Qualifications
M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a master's and/or doctoral degree in Physics or a related field. American Board of Radiology, Therapeutic Medical Physics certification or equivalent.Three years post degree clinical medical physics experience. Regional Physicists are expected to be credentialed in all relevant procedures practiced at the regional clinic.
Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Medical Physics and/or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics.
