Position Overview

Bella Vista of Eden is seeking a talented, compassionate, and motivated Executive Chef to enrich the lives of our residents through nutritious, well-prepared meals. This leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about senior care, skilled in kitchen operations, and thrives in a collaborative, service-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership

  • Oversee the preparation and quality of breakfast, lunch, and dinner with attention to presentation and portion control.
  • Prepare meals using standardized recipes and coordinate prep for upcoming days.
  • Conduct daily pre-meal briefings with servers to review menu details and expectations.

Team Supervision & Training

  • Hire, train, schedule, and mentor culinary staff.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for every shift and address performance issues in alignment with HR policies.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to maintain a high standard of culinary excellence.

Kitchen Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly rotated stock rooms, coolers, and freezers.
  • Ensure food is labeled, dated, and stored per local, state, and county health codes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and ensure kitchen equipment is in good working condition.

Inventory & Budgeting

  • Assist in food ordering and inventory control to ensure adequate supplies while adhering to daily food cost budgets.
  • Apply waste reduction and food recycling strategies to minimize loss.
  • Support loss prevention practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals.

Resident & Community Engagement

  • Interact with residents daily to gather feedback and enhance satisfaction.
  • Assist in planning and executing special dining events and themed meals.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty program as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certified Dietary Manager or an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or Food Service is a plus, but not required.
  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience in long-term care or senior living environments (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to food quality, resident satisfaction, and a clean, safe kitchen environment.
  • Customer-service driven with a warm, professional demeanor.
