Position Summary

The Director of Programs is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services. This role ensures program effectiveness, alignment with organizational goals, and compliance with funding requirements and best practices in aging services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of aging-focused programs (e.g., caregiver support, case management, resource based programs)
  • Supervise program managers and staff, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Monitor program budgets and ensure financial stewardship and compliance with funder requirements.
  • Analyze community needs and develop responsive program models and partnerships.
  • Ensure quality assurance, data collection, and continuous improvement using evidence-based practices.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, coalitions, and aging networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prefer 5–7 years of progressive program leadership experience in nonprofit or aging services; relevant experience is also applicable.
  • Strong understanding of aging issues, community-based services, and public benefits.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Proficiency in program evaluation, budgeting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local funding streams related to aging services (e.g., Older Americans Act, Medicaid Waivers, etc.).
