Neighborhood Healthcare PACE is a managed medical plan built around surrounding participants with a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists and care coordinators to help them maintain good health and a good quality of life. Our goal is to keep our seniors happy and healthy at home surrounded by their family and community.
As a private, non-profit 501(C) (3) community health organization, we serve over 500k medical, dental, and behavioral health visits from more than 90k people annually. With two PACE centers located in Riverside County, our PACE program is positioned to serve over 650 senior participants.
Role Overview
The Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pay range: $23.00 - $32.55 per hour, depending on experience.

Role Overview

This role will communicate with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Patient Care
- Communicates and performs clinical care services with patients
- Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information
- Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs
- Discusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directly
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and procedures
- Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient care
- Ensures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings
- Assists other providers and care teams in women’s health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as needed
- Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the provider
- Conveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse
- Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the provider
- Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance
- Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
- Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
- Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
- Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
- Maintain privacy of all patients, employees, and volunteers information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
- Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
- Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid MA certificate from an accredited program required
- Valid BLS certification in accordance with the American Heart Association Guidelines required upon hire
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
- Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology
- Proficiency with electronic health records system experience preferred
- Intermediate computer and data entry skills
- Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers
- Flexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlines
- Use emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient care
- Exemplify compassion to patients and team members
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to lift/carry 15 lbs./weight
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
