Description

Holding Hands is seeking an HR Manager who is passionate about our mission to provide quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Floortime, and mental health services to new regions and markets in the United States. As an HR Manager, you will oversee and execute the company’s HR functions, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with business goals. You will be responsible for managing onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, benefits administration, and retention strategies. Additionally, you will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment and organizational culture as the company continues to grow and scale.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Human Resources policies, employment laws, and HR best practices, specifically in California. This individual should be able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with leadership and employees to drive HR initiatives forward.

Familiarity with HR software and tools is also required. Ultimately, you should be able to contribute to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization. This role reports directly to the Director of HR and is a salaried, exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute all HR functions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, particularly California employment laws.
  • Develop, implement, and manage HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead and facilitate onboarding and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance improvement plans while ensuring fair and consistent implementation of HR policies.
  • Design and administer training programs to enhance employee skills, leadership development, and company-wide compliance training.
  • Support leadership in performance evaluations, goal setting, and career development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and leave management in collaboration with external providers.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant record-keeping of personnel-related data, including payroll, benefits, leaves, and performance metrics.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for HR-related inquiries and provide expert guidance to employees and management.
  • Collaborate with department heads on workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Stay current on industry trends, labor laws, and HR best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Daily HR general related duties.
  • New Hire experience & training coordination
  • Total Rewards oversight and communication (benefit questions, 401k, pay rate, PTO balances, holiday pay)
  • Incident Report tracking & reporting
  • Management of EE doctor’s notes, accommodation requests & RTW auth
  • Coordinate Safety Committee
  • Site location compliance (labor posters, eVerify posters, fire extinguishers, OSHA site safety, etc)
  • Manage & train HR Coordinators
  • Cover for HR Coordinators when needed for time off

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Current HR certification: PHR or SHRM-CP
  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a senior HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, leave laws (CFRA, PDL, FMLA), and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in HR software, HRIS systems (such as ADP), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with performance management, employee engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Experience in the ABA and mental healthcare industry is preferred
