Reports to: Pharmacy General Manager

Overview:

A Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the pharmacy department. Duties include assisting with the onboarding process of new hires and training staff to manage resident/patient orders efficiently while always maintaining professionalism and ensuring pharmacy compliance with federal and state regulations. Other responsibilities include corresponding with residents/patients/facilities to address queries and concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the pharmacy department
  • Ensure the pharmacy complies with federal and state regulations
  • Communicate effectively with facilities/residents/patients relating to queries and issues
  • Ensure staff provide high standards of service
  • Assist in the onboarding process of new hires
  • Oversees and develops staff training processes
  • Instruct staff to interact professionally and courteously at all times
  • Program, direct, review, and rectify pharmacy procedures.
  • Render assistance to the technical and professional personnel in mixing, compounding and dispensing of various medications including non-sterile and sterile compound products.
  • Make formal requests for all supplies needed.
  • Set up and maintain a certified system of keeping records
  • Oversee the organization of inventories.
  • Design and organize job descriptions and prepare annual performance evaluation on all employees in a prompt manner.
  • Support supervising staff with the annual budget
  • Evaluate and improve manual of Policy and Procedure every year.
  • Institute and implement enhancement of quality for the department.
  • Perform selection of departmental staff and give orientation and supervision, as well as dismissal when necessary.
  • Plan, administer, organize, and successfully implement all activities in relation to the pharmacy operations.
  • Provide guidance on medications and prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs in line with long term care standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
