
Job Title: Client Services Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This individual works to oversee the administration of the 24/7 services provided to the Men’s Shelter residents- ensuring a safe and healing environment. They provide leadership, support and guidance to staff and residents of the Men’s Shelter while both training and supervising the Resident Assistant (RA) team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: LEADERSHIP
- Be a champion, protecting UGM culture, ensuring mission, vision, and core values are promoted and embraced throughout your department.
- Provide leadership and management oversight, support and accountability for RA team, implementing operations strategy, structure, and processes.
- Ensure department have an annual strategic plan that aligns with UGM’s overarching Strategic plan and the objectives are being achieved throughout the year.
- Communicate effectively with Men’s Mission Director regarding all critical issues/activities.
- Ensure development/training of staff is occurring, including the development and completion of training check list on all new department hires.
- Help in facilitation and coordination of the Men’s Rescue Program.
- Oversee and maintain the weekly RV Community Meeting schedule for leaders; lead these meetings as needed.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of the WAYPOINT database for the Men’s Shelter.
- Complete reports and surveys on resident population for entities requiring statistics; compile and maintain daily and monthly statistical reports.
- Assist the Medical Clinic Coordinator with calls and adhere to the medical needs of residents in his/her absence.
Key Result Area #2: SUPERVISION OF RA STAFF
- Hold team members accountable to timeclock, work ethic, budget, emails, spiritual growth.
- Conduct monthly one on ones and annual evaluations with direct reports and ensure all leaders are utilizing monthly 1 on 1, tri-semester evaluation, with a deeper annual review as well.
- Clarify and clearly define roles/responsibilities/expectations with staff, ensuring that each team member has a current playbook.
- Ability and willingness to press into hard and developing conversations, promoting feedback rich culture
- Promote and ensure staff’s teachability and healthy teamwork
- Reviews and ensures team supports, values, and consistently observes Team norms
- Promote and encourage staff and personal development/growth
- Ensure volunteers are valued/utilized throughout department.
- Prepare and maintain weekly RA schedules including the rotating weekly schedule of ON-CALL Leader.
Key Result Area #3: HOUSE MANAGEMENT/ADMINISTRATION
- Complete, maintain and update administrative tasks and assorted computer tasks (i.e. database updates, class rosters, stats).
- Oversee Next Step resident move-in and move-out process.
- Oversee drug and alcohol screening of residents by RA staff.
- Serve as Men’s Misson liaison regarding both probation and parole; report and maintain communication involving current residents and potential applicants within the program.
- Monitor safety or security issues and address them promptly.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Grounded and committed Christian: able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry to the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill.
- Active member of the body of Christ, in accordance with the UGM Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
- Strong interpersonal skills; capable of exercising discernment and compassion towards others.
- Willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
- Know and able to communicate and embrace UGM’s cultural Core Values and their indicators. The Core Values are applied and observed
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Willing to continue education as needed or required.
- Excellent communication skills are needed. The ability to effectively communicate and train with various written, verbal and instructional methods.
- Must have a teachable spirit and the ability manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
- Minimum five years of sobriety, if in recovery.
- Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license– required.
- CPR/First Aid certification – required.
- Yearly TB clearance – required.
- Criminal background check clearance – required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - continuously.
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.
- Requires the ability to occasionally work shift work, cover shifts and be on call when needed.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
Computer (Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, Internet), Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2-year degree social work or applicable field of study, or equivalent years of experience.
- 2 years of experience working with a low-income population.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency addictions and process addictions.
- Ability to recognize active use and misuse of legal or illicit substances.
