- ABOUT THE POSITION:** Spokane Valley is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic employee to serve our City as a full-time Engineering Technician II for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in our Engineering Division. The ideal candidate will support the city by performing duties associated with Capital Improvement Projects and will have exceptional technical skills, and a strong desire to provide superior service to both internal and external customers.
- SELECTED EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Performs** construction inspection, documentation, contractor oversight, coordination with materials testing, and interaction with contractors on federally funded municipal projects. Oversees field inspectors and works closely with the construction management team on construction compliance and documentation**.** Assists Senior Engineer in construction management, design, application of principles, and techniques of civil engineering technology. Reads and interprets contract plans and specifications and confer with engineer concerning assistance required such, acceptance testing, evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reports. Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred.
- DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**: **Education and Experience**: An associate's degree in drafting, Computer-Aided-Design (CAD), engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field; and minimum of three years related work experience in public works engineering design and construction, or as an engineering technician, or comparable related work. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: Some knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting; some knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting Division activities; considerable skill in arriving at cost estimates on complex projects; some skill in construction inspection, documentation, and/or drafting. Ability to prepare, organize and maintain engineering field and office data, reports and systems; ability to effectively communicate complex technical information, orally and in writing, to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, City officials and the general public.
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must** possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment; must be physically capable of moving about on construction sites. Successful completion of drug screening and a background check, including a criminal check, is a requirement of employment at Spokane Valley.
