A Snapshot Of What You'll Do

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the financial processing of transactions, G/L entries, managing month end and year end closing activities, and monitoring, analyzing and reporting of financial data.

The Impact You'll Make

The Staff Accountant job duties include:

  • Performing daily bank postings, G/L entries, and check deposits.
  • Reviewing all monthly expenses to ensure they are charged to the proper cost elements and G/L accounts
  • Maintaining fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Managing Accounts Payable including reviewing and approving incoming invoices, posting invoices, processing payments, reconciling Credit Card statements and the Petty Cash box, and maintaining vendor banking information in SAP.
  • Managing Accounts Receivable including managing prepayments, applying payments to customer invoices, accruing commission for direct sales, creating group invoices, dunning and customers and accruing interest / charging late fees for overdue payments.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely month end financial period closings including inter-company reconciliations, foreign currency valuations, production monitoring, accruals, bank reconciliations, depreciation, payroll and insurance postings, calculation of sales commissions, calculation of late fees/interest, analysis of G/L accounts and Inventory postings, preparation of invoices for intercompany services fees, and account maintenance.
  • Assisting with Financial Audits during year-end closing.
  • Supporting Purchasing department with purchase requisitions, cost allocations, prepayments, and analyzing, researching and proactively resolving invoicing issues.
  • Preparing monthly reporting and analysis of financial statements highlighting deviations to plan for presentation to leadership.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structures in SAP, and staying current on any updates to the FI module and ensuring that changes are implemented accordingly by all employees involved in the FI process.
  • Demonstrating a basic understanding of differences between US GAAP and IFRS rules and regulations.
  • Working directly with headquarters on any questions and requests.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in an accounting position
  • Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced handling confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet required deadlines
  • Team player that is self-motivated, and is capable of working in a high transaction environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SAP, or another ERP system
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

What We Do

Anton Paar QuantaTec manufactures instruments for characterization of powders and porous materials using techniques like physisorption, chemisorption, gas pycnometry, mercury intrusion porosimetry, capillary flow porometry amongst others.

Supervision Exercised

This role is an independent contributor who collaborate with team members across multiple departments, and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, observe, communicate and handle items such as computers, machinery and other equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
