
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for program design, implementation, management, supervision, leadership, and strategic development to achieve the objectives of the fitness department at the JCC's Uptown facility.
- Work closely with the marketing and fitness managers to develop and promote the programs and services of the department.
- Responsible for overseeing a team of fitness professionals, who will provide personal training, small group training, and specialty programs.
- Continually evaluate programs, solicit feedback, review, and analyze results.
- Be actively engaged in "cross-selling" the other key revenue components of the JCC to members/guests i.e., Pre-school, after-school, summer camps, etc., by obtaining sufficient program knowledge of these key program areas.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including staffing, ordering/maintenance of equipment, cleanliness, cleaning schedules, and inventory management.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, develop, and track staff certifications to deliver high-quality programs and services that respond to member needs.
- Manage and develop programs that are specific to the community and age-appropriate, including but not limited to wellness classes, group exercise classes, for-fee programming, etc.
- Propose a fitness equipment replacement plan that complements the demographic of the JCC membership and industry trends.
- Be prepared to teach all classes in your area of responsibility and support staff in providing high-quality programming and classes.
- Conduct regular staff meetings with each program area.
- Ensures that the Fitness Staff provides a friendly, safe, and pleasant experience for all members and guests during fitness center visits.
- The Director of Fitness is required to train clients when necessary. Personal training clients must not be scheduled during MOD shifts.
- Responsible for daily tracking personal trainers' and small group exercise instructors' time to be aware when overtime thresholds are encroaching, and to address staffing and assigned shifts accordingly and review and submit bi-monthly payroll to accounting.
- Coordinate with the Fitness desk to ensure that appointments and tracking are reconciled each afternoon with personal training.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health obligations to employees and members.
- Responsible for ensuring all fitness staff are certified in CPR/AED.
- Provide direct supervision of the Personal Trainers, Group Exercise Instructors, MODs, and Fitness staff.
- Coordinate the timely matching of trainers with members based on clients' personal needs and fitness goals.
- Uphold professional standards during all decision-making situations.
- Turn every guest visit into a new member relationship by listening to guests desires and individual needs, presenting the fitness center in a way that best connects with them.
- Establish member confidence with understandable pricing, free communication and a passion for fitness.
- Establish a membership orientation process and present reasons why personal training can play a dynamic role in reaching fitness goals with 100% of prospective new members.
- Offer the opportunity to purchase personal training with 100% of new memberships.
- Create an exceptional experience for all members; follow up with current members to see if they are reaching or maintaining their fitness goals.
- Serve as an outlet for members' questions or concerns and direct them to the appropriate individual or department to ensure prompt resolution to those questions and concerns.
- As an actively participating team member, assist the welcome desk as necessary, affording members a friendly greeting and prompt check-in or other member services.
- Strive to stay current on industry trends by reading trade publications, shopping the competition and attending continuing education seminars/training.

What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of experience in leadership and customer service in the fitness industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience and success in customer service
- The most successful candidate will be self-motivated, work well independently, prioritize, problem-solve, and have excellent organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and demonstration of proven sales experience
- Strong computer abilities, including knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suite, and CRM platforms.
- Lead by example and follow all NOJCC policies and procedures, as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership.
- Basic awareness of Judaism and Jewish cultural norms and tradition
Schedule:
Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, occasional weekends and evenings
