Key job responsibilities
General Work Activities -
- Develop and execute inventory and supply strategies to meet customer needs and achieve business requirements.
- Prioritize activities and align with stakeholders to deliver supplies with a high degree of predictability.
- Manage supplier performance and allocation of material to demands based on priority
- Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
- Identify and drive realization of opportunities for durable, relative advantage in your category
- Purchase raw materials used in the production of customer orders.
- Maintain a targeted weeks of supply protecting site level in-stock.
- Purchase materials, equipment and supplies from suppliers.
- Assist vendor managers in maintaining supplier relationships by monitoring and addressing supply issues and developing parts and projects.
- Support purchasing team with routine tasks, administrations, projects, improvement initiatives and automation plans.
- Proactively identify supply base opportunities to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit industry developments that benefit Amazon
- Understand forecasting, demand planning, material planning, and manufacturing processes to verify supply commitments.
- Manage supply buffers and allocation to shorten lead times and build resiliency into the supply chain without driving excess.
- Drive supplier improvement initiatives to continually lower risk and reduce lead times
- Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations.
- Conduct regular touch bases with purchasing sites, to monitor missing cases, PO discrepancies, space, and coverage.
- Manage invoice hold processes, to ensure on-time vendor payment.
- Manage special order projects upon request, such as new product launch purchasing and forecast support.
- Publish reporting that monitors in-stock rate, WOC, and actual purchases vs plan.
- Process transition management.
- Technology on-boarding, training, and resource
- Subject matter expertise in one or more areas of category management operations.
- 1+ years of procurement experience
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including: pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.
- 1+ years of project coordination experience
- Advanced knowledge of excel (macros, index/match, VBA, data links, etc.), or SQL at an intermediate level (queries, subqueries, aggregation/grouping, data modification, etc.)
