Position Title: Federal Programs Literacy & Family Education Coordinator

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Federal Program Director, the Literacy & Family Education Coordinator works collaboratively with the district programs, schools, families, and community to increase literacy skills of students as well as family engagement of qualifying Federal Programs (Title I-A, Title I-C).
The coordinator will lead the design and implement support programs, interventions, and family education curriculum to build family engagement in schools, and increase literacy outcomes for students, especially those in grades K-3, qualifying for Title I-A and Title I-C (Migrant Education Program). The coordinator is responsible for planning and executing meetings and other activities geared toward supporting family education and engagement and student literacy skills.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads and supervises professional development, training, and classes for staff related to best practices in literacy pedagogy, family engagement, needs of vulnerable populations, and language acquisition.
- Develops and implements family engagement and education programs, including tracking of effectiveness of classes related to school engagement, supporting students, literacy, and healthy families.
- Plans and implements student interventions and literacy supports, including direct supports with students, coaching teachers and administrators, and coaching parents/guardians
- Implements strategies aimed at eliminating barriers to parent and student engagement.
- Implements and maintains an effective and efficient record-keeping, reporting, and data tracking system that ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates, communicates, and partners with school level admin, staff, colleagues, students, families, and community members in the areas of Migratory Education, at-risk students and students in poverty.
- Leads the work on the implementation of parent education programming.
- Establishes and builds collaborative relationships with community organizations to promote literacy and increase student outcomes.
- Attends district meetings and community events in conjunction with the Federal Programs to increase the effectiveness of student support.
- Supports the implementation of Title I-A and Title I-C programming, including qualifying students and families for programs, state reporting, and annual requirements and deadlines.
- Maintains effective communication with management and other staff members; and prepares and provides timely and accurate written reports, memoranda, and other statistical and necessary information as required or requested.
- Co-facilitates parent committees aimed at engaging parents in providing input and guiding effective decision making of Federal Programs.
- Anticipates, identifies, and resolves complex obstacles to success of overall program as a specific project, needs, and ideas arise.

- Represent the school district in a positive manner
- Know and follow the school district policy and chain of command
- Complete other duties as assigned

Education And/Or Experience
- Bilingual (Spanish), preferred
- Teaching Certificate, preferred
- Administrative Certificate, preferred
- Experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse students and families (i.e. ESL, Migrant, McKinney-Vento, low-income, etc.), preferred
- Experience in leadership in formal or informal role, required
- Prior experience leading professional development, parent classes, groups, and trainings, required
- Demonstrate aptitude for working with economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse populations.
- Works well with students, staff, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work under pressure and deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office), spreadsheets (Excel), database (Access), presentation software and accounting/financial software.
