Grizzly Industrial is seeking a motivated and eager Industrial Design Intern to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn, a great attitude and the ability to work closely with our Senior Industrial Designer and other team members on various projects. This internship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial design, from concept development to production.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Design and Development: Support the design process from concept to production, ensuring that designs meet user needs and manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct Research: Assist in conducting qualitative and quantitative user research to inform design decisions and improve product usability.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective to produce.
  • Prototype Building: Help create and test prototypes to validate design concepts and make necessary adjustments.
  • Data Collection: Collect data on design tests and use computer models to test designs.
  • Rendering and Visualization: Operate rendering software to visualize designs and assist in creating compelling presentations to communicate design concepts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, and production, to bring designs to life.
  • Documentation: Assist in preparing detailed design documentation and specifications for manufacturing.
  • Learning and Development: Show eagerness to learn new skills and techniques, and apply feedback from senior designers and team members.


Requirements:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design software such as SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft 360.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Research Skills: Exposure to both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Design Aesthetics: Keen sense of style and ability to create visually appealing designs.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to create compelling presentations and effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and work environments.
  • Storytelling: Skill in creating compelling narratives to communicate design concepts and the story behind the designs.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing previous design work is required to apply.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with prototyping and user testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
