Job Description

The Assistant Director of Classroom Operations provides strategic and operational leadership to the Child Development Department by overseeing the work of Child Development Supervisors and monitoring classroom practices. This role ensures that all instructional services meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and accountability. Working closely with the Director of Child Development and Assistant Director of Support Services, this position helps ensure integrated and comprehensive child development services are provided to children and families from birth to age five.

Pay

Bi-Weekly: $3,127.47

  • Paid Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Paid Breaks include 1-week for Spring Break (March), 1-week for Fall Break (November), and 2- weeks for Winter Break (end of December/beginning of January).

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, Special Education, Educational Administration or other closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful management and supervisory experience in a preschool, Head Start, or licensed childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Colorado Child Care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and foster collaboration.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic, operational, standing, and single-use plans, resource allocation, budgeting, staffing, leadership techniques, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Knowledge of early childhood instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, child and adult learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual development plans, and outcomes assessment focusing on all domains of development.
  • Knowledge of special education for children birth through age 5.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in human resource management.
  • Knowledgeable about and skilled in the use of computers and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other software programs.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing. (Physical examination and TB test thereafter as required).
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Preferred

  • Graduate degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, Special Education, Educational Administration or other closely related field. (strongly preferred)
  • Two or more years of successful teaching experience with primary responsibility for a classroom of infants, toddlers and/or preschool.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced working with Head Start, Early Head Start, and/or public or private pre-school agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with community resources.
